There are a handful of cellulite-busters on the market, but before you add any to your collection, it’s important to know your options, what to expect and what to look for. While Davie, FL dermatologist Lesley Clark-Loeser, MD says that cellulite products can make a difference when used regularly, they work best when used alongside in-office treatments “that involve the use of more powerful energy-based devices or injectables.”
According to Dr. Clark-Loeser, a variety of both at-home and in-office treatments exist to improve the appearance of cellulite. “There are differences between these categories of treatments. For the most part, at home treatments—think products like creams and lotions, massagers or low-level energy-emitting devices—will be less expensive, have a more forgiving safety profile and will be mildly effective. The truth remains that successfully treating cellulite is challenging and there is no ‘perfect’ treatment.”
Whether you’re using them alone or alongside an in-office treatment, Dr. Clark-Loeser says topicals that contain caffeine or retinol are ones to look for, “as they improve texture, improve cellulite appearance by dehydrating cells and help to thicken the skin.” Don’t know where to start?
