Why is Collarbone-Length Hair Trending?
“Collarbone-length hair is incredibly versatile and can flatter almost any face shape,” explains Hairstory Stylist and owner of Forma Collective Salon, Chelsea Vonne James. “It’s a popular choice right now. Especially for those transitioning from bobs that were trending over the summer, because it’s the shortest you can go while still having some wiggle-room to play.”
But not all looks grow-out equally. Re-shaping your summer haircut into collarbone-length hair is the perfect way to keep your style clean and put-together.
How to Make the Look Work for You
Consider Hair Type
According to expert stylist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, Raven Hurtado, you should consider how your hair type can impact a final cut. “For fine, thin hair, one length, collarbone-length hair with a side part looks best because it looks full and thick. A side part also adds body,” she explains. “Consider giving thick, collarbone-length hair long layers to give the hair movement and a lighter feel that should be easy to style.”
“For fine, thin hair, I recommend a blunt or slightly layered cut as this creates the illusion of fullness,” agrees New York expert stylist and colorist, Marie Nino.
Consider Face Shape
This look is also versatile when it comes to face shape. “Diamond face shapes benefits from this cut because it softens the angular bone structure,” Hurtado explains.
“It’s also particularly flattering for round and heart-shaped faces, as it elongates the face,” adds Nino.
Styles Experts Love
And among this super versatile cut, there are styles that the experts keep coming back to. “I love a collarbone lob with a lived-in look that is slightly tousled, explains Nino. “This is a shoulder-grazing cut with soft layers that add natural texture and movement.
Of course, a good stylist will always seek to create a look that works just for you. “I love the versatility of the collarbone-length cut,” Vonne James says. “Every client is unique, and I really enjoy tailoring each cut to suit their individual style, lifestyle and preferences. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how a well-chosen hairstyle can boost someone’s confidence and it’s what makes my job amazing.”
