In the vast and varied world of hair care, priorities differ from person to person. Some chase volume, others fight frizz and many are on an eternal quest for the perfect style. But when we surveyed over 1,500 NewBeauty readers, one goal stood head and shoulders above the rest: healthier hair. A staggering 73 percent of respondents cited this as their primary objective when purchasing hair products.

But what exactly does “healthier hair” mean to our beauty-savvy audience? And more importantly, which products are they relying on to achieve this coveted state? Let’s dive into the top concerns and the go-to products that are helping NewBeauty readers achieve their number-one hair goal.

Damage and Dryness

For many, healthier hair means addressing damage and dryness. A 42-year-old reader swears by salon staple brand Redken, saying it “helped repair hair. [My] hair feels softer, bouncier and fuller.” Similarly, a 38-year-old reader credits Kérastase for transforming her “dry, damaged frizzy curls into smooth, hydrated, bouncy curls.”

Even readers with chemically treated hair are finding ways to maintain health. A 21-year-old with keratin-treated hair recommends Redken All Soft Shampoo ($26): “It leaves my hair feeling soft and hydrated, without stripping away the keratin. I’ve also noticed that my treatment lasts much longer when I stick to this shampoo.”

Strength and Resilience

Others associate healthy hair with strength and resilience. A 69-year-old reader raves about Olaplex: “Really helped strengthen my hair and moisture mask is 1000!!!” For those dealing with over-processed hair, K18 seems to be a game-changer. A 41-year-old reader shares, “K18 has helped me repair damage caused by over-processing done to my hair over time without stripping color. It’s a staple in my routine.”

Hydration

Hydration is another key factor in achieving healthier hair. A 50-year-old reader living in Florida battles frizz and dryness with help from Living Proof products. “Even though I buy multiple other brands because of my beauty junky habit and always wanting to try the latest products out there, I seem to always return to buying Living Proof,” she says.

Manageability

For some, healthier hair means a return to manageability. A 40-year-old with autoimmune conditions found salvation in K18: “After one use of K18, I became a faithful customer. My hair became more manageable than it had been in months. It looked healthier, and it has only improved over time.”

While the definition of “healthy hair” may vary from person to person, one thing is clear: NewBeauty readers are dedicated to achieving their best hair possible. Whether it’s through deep conditioning treatments, bond-building formulas, or gentle, nourishing shampoos, they’re finding products that deliver results and help them reach their ultimate hair goal.
