Let’s face it, some of us only have time for one really good multitasking product. If you’re in this group, you want that one rockstar to deliver a little bit of coverage, sun protection and skin care. Naked Sundays answers the call with its brand-new BeautyScreen SPF50 Peptide Foundation Tint ($38). And with a high SPF of 50 (many skin tints max out at 30), you get even more sun protection. (The difference is marginal, but we’ll take it.)
“BeautyScreen has been three years in the making with a waitlist of over 100,000,” says brand founder Samantha Brett. “It’s been our most requested product ever, and we wanted to get it 100-percent right, make it sensitive-skin friendly, and ensure it is was inclusive as possible.” These are my honest thoughts after giving it a try.
What Makes This Tinted Sunscreen Different
Loaded with efficacious skin-care ingredients, this tinted sunscreen does allow you to skip skin care, but that also depends on your skin type and concerns. I have combination skin, so on an oily day, I could use this without skin care. But on a drier day, I would prep my skin with serum and/or moisturizer first to make sure everything lays evenly. It definitely has that second-skin vibe everyone is loving right now.
So what are the key ingredients making it so skin-friendly? “We wanted you only to have one step in the morning, so we’ve added a bunch of superfood antioxidants, plus peptides and polyglutamic acid for added hydration,” says Brett. Niacinamide and squalane are also in the mix, lending brightening and hydration respectively. There’s also 12-percent non-nano zinc oxide adding the sun protection. “At Naked Sundays, we are passionate about all our products meeting SPF 50 standards with UVA and UVB protection,” Brett tells me. “Mineral filters are actually a white powder, so it extremely difficult to get a full shade range, but we are so proud that we managed to get up to 13 shades.” Plus, the SPF also protects against blue light and infrared light.
Brett describes the finish as satin, which is a cross between matte and dewy. “We also heard feedback from our customers that other tints were too glossy or didn’t have enough coverage, so we wanted to ensure ours provided a satin finish with medium coverage.” I agree with that, but I think it also depends on your skin type and how you prep your skin. If you use primer, it can change how anything you apply on top looks. For me, as you see in the picture above, it leans a little more dewy.

Peptides, polyglutamic acid, niacinamide, squalane, and iron oxide
How to Use It
Before applying, shake the tube to activate the tint. You can apply it with your fingers, a brush or a sponge. The brand also has its own brush—the SPF BFF Brush (pictured above)—that it recommends. I love this brush for applying the brand’s other sunscreens, but I personally prefer a denser brush for this product. With a denser brush, I don’t lose as much product within the bristles and I get a more even application. Also, don’t forget to blend the product down onto your neck as well so you don’t have a line of demarcation along your jawline.
