Dubbed the “Breakout Fitness Star” by The New York Times, Isaac Boots has a large and loyal following (Gwyneth Paltrow, Priyanka Chopra and Lucy Liu are just a few of his fans). But, for the celebrity trainer to teach his popular virtual classes, it all starts with self-care at home.
Morning Glory
“I always start my day with room temperature water with half a lemon squeezed. It’s good for digestion and your immune system, and a little blast of citrus helps wake you up. Then, I drop to the floor and do 50 push-ups. I try to do at least 200 a day, so if I get the first 50 out of the way, I feel a sense of accomplishment. Then, I put on one of my TORCH’D x Mindset Wellness Energy patches, which have green tea and hemp extract, to help fuel me so I can get at least 30 minutes of cardio in before I start training my clients.”
Circuit Play
“After my shower, I spray my face with rosewater and glycerin and use three ice cubes in a wet paper towel to help improve circulation and bring down any inflammation or puffiness.”
Recovery Retreat
“Once a year, I go to Lanserhof, a medical wellness retreat in Europe. They run tests and get information to design a wellness recovery experience, including a meal plan, which really optimizes your health. It is an incredibly transformative experience. I love the property in Sylt, Germany. It is so tranquil and the perfect place to check in on your body and mind.”
Sub Set
“I get TORCH’D at least two or three times daily, including a livestream for my subscribers. I usually start my mornings with two eggs poached and some oatmeal with fresh berries. After I do my livestream at noon EST for my subscribers, I have some Greek yogurt with honey, blueberries and chia seeds. I also give my two mini Poodles—Davis and Lil’Romeo—a little bit of plain greek yogurt, too. In the afternoon after I finish my last client, I will spend a few hours reading—I’m improving my French and working on my Italian. Or, I sneak in another 30-minute workout for my subscribers. Then, in the evenings, I usually have a dinner or an event to go to. I always make a point to eat before I go out so that I am not tempted and I am not eating too late.”
Book Worm
“I love to read; I really find that it calms me down after all the hyping I do with my clients, livestreams and projects. My husband and I also read to each other before bed. It sounds corny, but it is a great way to connect with your partner at the end of a long day.”
Clear Signal
“I am a creature of habit, so my routine has been developed over time. I intermittent fasted for years, but recently it hasn’t worked as well for me. I travel a lot, so my goal is always trying to stay focused on my personal wellness. Listening to our body signals is imperative.”
Sleep Tight
“Like everyone, I can get caught up on my phone late into the night. I started putting my charger outside my bedroom so it is not right beside me. Nothing is better for my mental health than reading in bed, snuggling with my poodles. My sleep is so much more restorative because of those little shifts.”
