Self-care is for everyone, and Shaquille O’Neal is taking that to heart. Recently talking nail care on “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” he revealed he’s a big spender on a surprising treatment: a good old fashioned pedicure.
But why the big price tag?
“I give about $1,000 because I know my feet stink,” O’Neal explains. “I know they’re ugly and I like to paint them.”
Shaquille O’Neal Gets Honest About Pedicures
At 52, O’Neal hasn’t always been honest about his habit for a great pedicure. Back in 2017, when asked, he wouldn’t admit to getting the treatment, though he did playfully allow his co-hosts on Inside the NBA joke about the state of his feet. A life-long athlete, O’Neal’s feet definitely show the results of years of dedication, which means they were a little rough around the edges when he aired them on Inside.
It even caused his son, Shareef O’Neal, to tweet: “Whoever saw my dads [sic] toes on TV, I’m sorry.”
Thankfully, the hush-hush nature of the mani-pedi for athletes is starting to disappear. “SportsCenter” even shared a clip yesterday of O’Neal mid-session!
And these days, Shaq is invested in making his toes sparkle.
“I do, like, sparkles and designs and all this stuff, you know, just to make it look pretty because I have ugly, stinky feet,” he says on his podcast.
And he’s actually been getting it done longer than you might think.
“One time I had a toenail that was torn off and I wasn’t going to play a game,” he explains. “And my mom was like, ‘Babe, why you not playing the game?’ I was like, ‘I tore my toenail off.’ So she did something, and then she put some red polish on the thing.”
“And I had 40 [points] that game,” O’Neal finishes.
