Kyle Richards is getting candid about her choice to give up alcohol. In a new interview with WWD, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared the “number-one driving force” behind the lifestyle change.
Richards stressed that the decision wasn’t due to a severe problem with alcohol. “I didn’t have a problem with alcohol, per se—I always say that, but, of course, there were many times that I was like, ‘Oh, that was a problem’—but it really was a choice for health and beauty,” she revealed.
“I wanted to look and feel my best,” Richards continued. “It also affected my mental health, because drinking would give me anxiety the next day. I was not someone who could just go out and drink and have fun and be happy. The next day, I was always feeling down. But it really made a difference in how my skin looked and how my body looked.”
Her decision to stop drinking went hand-in-hand with cutting out sugar. “I started dropping weight immediately,” she recalled. “It wasn’t just alcohol. I cut all sugar from my diet, and I really thought, ‘Wow, this really makes a difference.”
This isn’t the first time RHOBH viewers have learned about Richards’ sobriety journey. As reported by Bravo in October 2023, she touched on it during the show’s Season 13 premiere. “It’s been seven-and-a-half months now that I have not had one drop of alcohol,” she told the camera. “I just really felt like alcohol wasn’t serving me. I wanted to do whatever it took to make me feel better physically and spiritually.”
She’s also spoken about her sobriety journey on podcasts and posted about her journey on social media. In July of last year, she celebrated one year free of alcohol. “I never put a time frame on when I would drink again or say IF I ever would,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. “All I know is I have never felt better physically or been more clear mentally.”
Richards revealed these details during an interview tied to IT Cosmetics, specifically the brand’s It CC+ Cream foundation—a product adored by celebrities and beauty editors alike. She, too, is a fan. “I have been a fan of the CC+ cream for years, so it just felt organic to me. It was a natural match,” Richards told the outlet about teaming up with the brand for its new “Keep It Real” campaign. She particularly loves its color-correcting benefits, saying, “I tend to get redness in my skin and that is one of my favorite things.”
From what it sounds like, the formula is her go-to in day-to-day life. “When I’m filming, I have lashes and all this makeup, but in my day-to-day, I like to be more natural, more real looking,” she said. “For me, [It CC+ Cream foundation] is something I can put on my face and know that it’s making me look better, but also doing a good thing for my skin too.” Check it out below.
