Fellowship-trained cosmetic and breast surgeon, Dr. M. Bradley Calobrace, performs more than 1,000 surgical procedures a year, specializing in breast, facial rejuvenation and body contouring surgery. Board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Calobrace publishes extensively on the subject of breast surgery and is a recognized leader and educator. He routinely travels around the world as a visiting professor and keynote opinion leader and lecturer. His 16,000-square-foot Louisville location houses a state-of the-art clinical practice, a fully accredited on-site surgical center, the Cosmetic Breast Center, and CaloSpa—an 8,000-square-foot medi-spa.
About My Practice
How would you categorize your procedure offerings?
My practice is purely cosmetic. I perform nearly 1,000 cosmetic surgical procedures a year, including advanced cosmetic breast surgery, body contouring procedures and facial rejuvenation.
How do you know when a procedure is complete?
I never leave the operating room until the results are the absolute best they can be.
How do you proceed if you don’t think a patient needs surgery?
I never sell or push surgery on anyone. My goal is to help patients find good solutions. Sometimes that includes surgery—sometimes it doesn’t! I only perform a procedure if I truly believe I can achieve outstanding results. In that way, I am a perfectionist.
About Me
Why did you become a plastic surgeon?
I found that plastic surgery allowed me to combine creativity, artistry and surgical skills to produce results that would change people’s lives.
What are some of your hobbies?
I am really into traveling, weight lifting, running, spending time with friends and family, theater and tennis.
How do you start each day?
I get up at about 5 a.m., do paperwork, read and work out prior to my 7:30 surgery.

- I had saline breast implants done 17 years ago, and they are beginning to sag. What is the average cost to have new implants done, and will I also need a breast lift done at the same time?What our experts say:
Saline implants can sometimes cause stretching in the lower poles of the breast. More common factors that would cause sagging are having children and age. The cost for a Removal and Replacement breast augmentation will differ from doctor to doctor and demographic area. The size of implant you choose and the possible need for a lift can also change the surgery cost. For instance if you choose a smaller implant, the pocket created for your current implant may need to be revised or if you require a breast lift in conjunction with the augmentation your cost will change. A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help you understand more clearly what procedures you will need to meet your needs and expectations.
- Is it true that a common recovery complication in a tummy tuck is the sutures splitting during the healing process?What our experts say:
Spitting sutures are common, but we find that they are less common among tummy tuck patients and more common among breast augmentation patients. Not truly seen as a complication, spitting sutures are dissolvable sutures that can sometimes break through the surface of the skin “spitting” or “poking” their way out. They can cause slight discomfort or tenderness to the touch but they can be easily removed. If you experience a spitting suture just let your doctor’s office know and they can schedule you to have them removed. A typical appointment for suture removal is no more than 15 minutes.
