Embracing a 'less is more' approach to facial aging yields natural, age-appropriate results without an overdone appearance. This extends beyond aesthetics, freeing up time and energy to concentrate on the truly important aspects of life.

Philosophy

With a unique approach, board-certified dermatologic surgeon Dr. Sue Ellen Cox stands out for her extensive experience with injectable devices, products and energy based technologies. As a top injector, mentor and educator, she actively participates in FDA clinical trials for emerging aesthetic products, contributes to the development of new indications and plays a pivotal role in designing scales crucial for regulatory approvals. In addition to this she also provides a holistic and dynamic approach for her patients as she crafts customized 360 degree treatment plans. “My treatment plans are not static. I devise a positive aging plan for my patients based on my knowledge of the aging face and an artistic eye to create a beautiful natural result,” she explains. A testament to her commitment to patient-centric care, Dr. Cox emphasizes an educational doctor-patient dynamic. “I listen to their concerns and explain their options,” she says, underlining the importance of informed decision-making. Dr. Cox believes that educated patients are more likely to be content with their results, a philosophy embedded in her approach.

A Minute With

  1. What is your approach toward aesthetics?

My approach is patient-centric. I am always interested in knowing how the patient feels about themselves and the way they are aging and then I devise a positive aging plan to address their concerns, as well as using my fund of knowledge to help them age gracefully.

  2. Why is skin care so important?

Skin care is crucial to having healthy-looking skin. I tell my patients that what they do themselves every day is as important, if not more important, than coming into the office for procedures over the year.

  3. What are your most requested procedures?

Injectable treatments. Particularly the use of fillers, which is inherently very artistic. It requires a deep understanding of anatomy in conjunction with an aesthetic eye.

  4. How do you show patients you care post-treatment?

I treat my patients the way I would want to be treated. We follow up with new patients and regularly check in with existing patients to be sure they’re getting what they need from us. Customer service is crucial in the field of aesthetic medicine.

  5. How does your staff enhance your practice?

My staff is critical to the success of my practice. They are my ambassadors; they understand the patient comes first and they know how to translate that into our daily interactions with patients. I hire great people, invest in their growth and professional development and then get out of the way so they can take care of the patients.

  6. What new services are you excited to offer?

I have been excited to offer biostimulatory procedures to my patients. I love that you are taking advantage of the body’s own natural healing mechanisms to stimulate fibroblasts, the collagen-producing cells.

  7. What do you like most about your profession?

I love the patient encounters that I have with my patients throughout the different stages of both their and my life. I also love learning new techniques that can be delivered to my patients to help them age gracefully and the variety of procedures that dermatologists can offer.

  8. What are you doing differently today for facial rejuvenation?

Combination therapy is always going to give the best results. Knowing that the aging process starts at the level of the bone with reabsorption over time, to the surface of the skin with sun damage and skin laxity and then implementing the right procedures to assist with the aging process.
