Of all the celebrities to debut an eponymous fragrance, I’m surprised to see Billie Eilish join the club. Why, you ask? Her complexity. She represents so many different things, and as a perfumer, I think that would present an incredible challenge: how to capture that depth in a bottle. But nonetheless, the mega superstar (and her brilliant team of “noses”) have nailed it. Here’s what we know about the scent, aptly named Eilish ($68; sign up for exclusive access here), launching next month.
According to Parlux (Eilish’s partner in creating the fragrance), the Grammy winner “has been obsessed with scent her entire life, from a fascination with perfume bottles as a child to collecting hundreds of fragrances as she toured the world. To bring her first signature fragrance to life, she was intimately involved in every step of the process and had full creative control, from the creative vision and the bottle design to the packaging, the campaign, and of course, the scent itself.”
So what does it smell like? Think warm and cozy—it’s an amber gourmand—which is rather timely as we enter the winter holiday season. “I wanted it to feel like a warm embrace,” says Eilish. “Like what it feels like to feel your blood rushing through you. It’s a scent that I’ve been chasing for years and years and years. It’s my favorite smell in the world.” The top notes are sugared petals, accented by juicy mandarin and red berries; the heart of the fragrance features soft spices, rich cocoa and creamy vanilla; and the base includes warm musks, tonka bean and sleek woods.
According to Parlux, the amber-bronze bottle was inspired by Eilish’s favorite parts of the body: the chest, neck and collarbone. It definitely makes a big statement, just like the singer herself. “Billie Eilish is a singular talent and the voice of a generation,” says Lori Singer, president of Parlux Ltd. “She has a vision in everything she does that is unique, disruptive and authentically hers.”
