Fragrance body mists have gone viral on TikTok as of late, making us wish we had “smell-o-vision” in our phones. The category is booming, as many people seek lighter, less-concentrated fragrances that are also great for layering. According to a 2023 Mintel report, consumers in the UK are jumping on this trend big-time. “A combination of inflation…and innovation has boosted usage of body sprays and mists, which are now nearing the usage of perfume.”
Typically, the beauty trends we see overseas make their way stateside soon enough, and that’s evident in the number of new fragrance mist launches we’ve seen this summer alone. These are the best-smelling ones to try, and they’ll have everyone wondering what you’re wearing.
Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist ($38)
This is the brand’s OG Bum Bum Cream scent, which propelled SDJ to mega fame. It’s described as “the ultimate expression of Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian spirit,” and in Portuguese, “cheirosa” means to smell incredibly delicious. Also, did we mention that one of these mists sells around the world every seven seconds?
Key Notes
Pistachio, Almond, Heliotrope, Jasmine Petals, Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Sandalwood
Ellis Brooklyn SAND Hair & Body Fragrance Mist ($48)
The brand bottled up a “sweet day spent at the shore” with this warm, seductive scent that’s reminiscent of bare skin. It certainly has that addictive quality and anyone in your path will wonder what you’re wearing.
KEY NOTES
PHLUR Vanilla Skin Hair & Body Fragrance Mist ($38)
The brand calls this “an intoxicating vanilla good enough to eat,” and we agree. It’s sugary, creamy vanilla, but in an ultra-luxe way, and it will charm everyone who smells it on your skin.
KEY NOTES
Pink Pepper, Pink Apple, Sugar Crystals, Lily, Jasmine Petals, Cashmere Wood, Benzoin, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Agarwood
NEST Balinese Coconut Body Mist ($39)
We first fell in love with the brand’s Balinese Coconut Perfume Oil—imagine basking on beach in Bali—which layers perfectly with this mist. It’s not too coconut-heavy, though Southeast Asian coconut is the hero note.
KEY NOTES
Coconut, Solar Frangipani, Tiare Blossom, Sandalwood, Salted Musk
Saltair Santal Bloom Body Mist ($16)
If you haven’t tried the brand’s other Santal Bloom products, you’re in for a treat. Saltair describes the scent as “warm and golden, like sun-kissed skin,” and there’s a slight earthiness to it. You’ll love getting whiffs as it lingers throughout the day.
KEY NOTES
Sandalwood, Amber, Musks
Le Monde Gourmand Lait de Coco Hair & Body Mist ($28)
Escape to an island paradise with this fresh, creamy, coconut elixir that isn’t too tropical-y, so you can wear it in any season. It’s sweet and indulgent, especially when you first spray it, but the dry down is well-balanced.
KEY NOTES
Bergamot, Vanilla Praline, Creamy Coconut
Bath & Body Works Milk Perfume Mist ($17)
We’ve seen all the milky trends—from skin care to nail colors—and there’s something really cozy and sweet about the concept of a milky scent, too. This one gives big, warm, sugary hug vibes and has good lasting power.
KEY NOTES
Sugared Oats, Whipped Milk
Kopari Creamy Coconut Hair & Body Mist ($29)
Though this mist comes in four different scents that all have that “yummy” quality, this one is the brand’s most requested, signature coconut scent. It’s warm, sweet and creamy, and made with responsibly sourced, upcycled ingredients.
KEY NOTES
Peach Nectar, Lemon Peel, Coconut Shavings, Creamy Milk, Warm Spice, Vanilla Bean, Praline, Cloud Musk
Rare Beauty Find Comfort Body & Hair Fragrance Mist ($28)
Founder Selena Gomez says, “I’ve always been drawn to fragrance because it helps me disconnect from everyday stresses, and this mist does just that. It’s bright and fresh yet warm and cozy at the same time—I’m obsessed!” It’s a calming, comforting scent that is sure to draw people in.
KEY NOTES
Lemon Zest, Rhubarb, Pomelo, Jasmine Petals, Violet, Black Tea Extract, Vetiver, Tonka Beans, Cashmere Wood
OUAI St. Barts Hair & Body Mist ($28)
A fresh solar scent that transports you to the beaches of St. Barts? Yes please! It gives sipping a pina colada on the beach as a whiff of sunscreen blows by. We love it more for the hair than the body (it tends to last longer), but it’s a treat for the senses either way.
KEY NOTES
Orange Oil, Ocean Breeze Accord, Dragon Fruit, Baltic Amber, Musk, Orange Blossom, Sampaguita, Tuberose
