It’s TV’s biggest night, the 76th annual Emmy Awards where our favorite A-listers rule the red carpet. It’s also a huge night for the cast of Netflix’s Griselda, which is nominated for three awards. Sofia Vergara owns one of them, as she’s up for Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role as Griselda Blanco. We got the inside scoop on her award-worthy glow from celebrity makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani, who prepped the actress’s skin and makeup for the big night. Stunning in a red Dolce & Gabbana gown that hugged every curve and Cartier jewels, the actress turned every head in the room.
“My goal for Sofia’s makeup look was a radiant, glowy complexion—I wanted her to shine and look bright,” Bedrani told us. “When a client leaves for an event that will last for hours and you’re not there to touch her up, you need to take necessary steps to ensure a long-lasting makeup. To do so, you need a good canvas, and it always start with skin care.” Tonight, the makeup artist used SumaNurica products on Vergara’s skin.
Sofia Vergara’s Skin Prep for the Emmys
First, Bedrani used the Probiotic Energising Essence. “I poured some into my hands and gently pressed it onto Sofia’s skin for a bright and more radiant complexion.” Next, she addressed the actress’s eye area with the Hexapeptide5 Anti-Wrinkle Eye Serum. “I applied three dots under each eye and smoothed it around with the applicator.” And lastly, Bedrani applied the ECM Ultra-Light Ceramide Moisturizer all over Vergara’s face, massaging it in upward motions. “The best part of this moisturizer is that once it’s absorbed, there is no residue on the skin. It just plumps and hydrates the skin, leaving it soft and smooth, which makes it perfect for the makeup application.”
Australian biotech skin-care brand SumaNurica created a synthesized collagen protein that’s nearly identical to the collagen found in our skin. Tonight, the brand is launching three new products, including the Essence and Moisturizer. The third addition is Pro5 Age-Defying Peptide Cream, which is chock-full of peptides and the brand’s Patented Synthesised Collagen Essence to support collagen production, promote skin regeneration, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Bedrani’s Top Makeup Tips for Women Over 50
“My everyday skin-care tips for women 50+ is to always hydrate your skin as much as possible,” Bedrani says. “I’m a big fan of any skin care that helps support collagen production, but above all, wear sunscreen.” When prepping for a big event, she recommends exfoliating your skin the day before, but nothing too harsh. “Try to avoid getting aggressive facials the day of or the day before because you never know how your skin will react. But most of all, hydrate and nourish your skin. It will make your makeup application better and it will help it last longer.”
Lastly, Bedrani suggests avoiding too much powder. “It tends to stay in wrinkles and makes anyone look older. Instead, use a fine powder to set your makeup and then use blotting paper.”
