Amy Poehler and Tina Fey pulled off an iconic on-stage reunion at the Emmy Awards behind the “Weekend Update” desk made famous by Saturday Night Live. Although the pair joked that they’re now at the age where they will only present awards sitting down, the women are both aging as well as their comedic timing. For her appearance at the Emmy Awards, Poehler leaned into one of the biggest trends of the year: the bob.

“There’s nothing chicer than a French bob,” says celebrity hairstylist Clariss Rubenstein, and we totally agree. Rubenstein styled a super elegant bob on Poehler inspired by her glamorous outfit. “When I saw Amy’s red wine-colored sequined Roland Mouret dress, I wanted to go super clean and classic with her hair,” she says.
Rubenstein began by prepping Poehler’s hair with Nexxus Unbreakable Care Root Thickening Spray ($18). This spray helps “add fullness throughout.” She followed that with Nexxus Epic Shine Anti-Humidity Spray ($15) and a smooth blow dry. Rubenstein then added a couple of extensions “to enhance the solid weight line of the perimeter of her bob, making it look thick, clean and bouncy.”
Using a flat iron, Rubenstein beveled the ends under, creating a little flick towards the face. “We went for a full ear tuck,” says Rubenstein. “I smoothed any flyaways and gave her glowing shine with Nexxus Repair & Nourish Ultra Lightweight Hair Oil ($12) and finished with a mist of Nexxus Comb Thru Finishing Mist ($14) for movable flexible hold.”
