The 2024 Grammy Awards are an excellent time to get a finger on the pulse of what’s trending, and tonight it’s clear that Old Hollywood is back and more luxurious than ever. A red carpet used to extravagant and over-the-top looks, 2024 stood out for its elegant, glamorous feel. The stars are out, it’s all side-swept loose curls and statuesque gowns, and we’re living for it.
Taylor Swift
You know she sets trends, and the 2024 Grammys are no exception. Swift arrived in a custom Schiaparelli white gown complete with a thigh-high slit and long black gloves. Long curls swept to the side and her signature red lip, Swift looks every bit an Old Hollywood idol. She completed the look with elegant diamond chains and a Lorraine Schwartz vintage watch-turned-choker set to midnight, a nod to her album of the same name, up for Album of the Year.
Kelly Clarkson
Walking the red carpet with her adorable 7-year-old son, Remington, Clarkson’s off-the-shoulder white gown is Old Hollywood personified. Sculpted, touchable curls frame a sultry smokey eye, but our favorite touch is the smile she wore walking with her son.
Alix Earle
From the floor of her closet to the Grammy red carpet, Alix Earle has come a long way from her TikTok GRWM videos that made her sky-rocket to fame. Her look served sophisticated simplicity, and in the purest way to channel a Hollywood vibe, Earle reports she went straight from her plane to a 1 a.m. spray tan. “We can’t be looking pasty,” she says.
Olivia Rodrigo
Okay so this is kind of cheating—Rodrigo’s gown is actually vintage. The 30-year-old Versace original premiered before Rodrigo was even born and was first modeled by supermodel Linda Evangelista. The elegant vibe is peak Old Hollywood (circa 1995), which Rodrigo elevated with a luscious and dimensional red lip and glamorous loose curls.
