Believe it or not, in a whirlwind of glamorous gowns, emotional speeches and to-die-for beauty looks, the end of the 2024 awards season is upon us. This past Sunday, the coveted awards season came to a close with the biggest night in Hollywood: The Oscars.
As beauty lovers, we’ve been keeping a close eye on the beauty trends on the red carpets throughout the season, from the SAG Awards to the delayed 2023 Emmys, The Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards and The Oscars. While we’ve been rounding up the best beauty looks like each night, we started thinking: what are the most common makeup brands turning out looks on our favorite A-listers? So, we put our analytical glasses on, did some cross referencing, and discovered that these six makeup brands make up the most common beauty brands on award show red carpets.
The Most Popular Red-Carpet Makeup Brands
Chanel Beauty
Chanel Beauty has gone viral across social media, largely for their universally flattering lip products, and as it turns out, the brand is equally as popular amongst celebrities on the red carpet. Between the 2024 SAG Awards, The Emmys and The Golden Globes, Chanel Beauty was seen on the faces of celebrities like Issa Rae, Jennifer Aniston, Ayo Edebiri and Margot Robbie, solidifying the brand’s position as one of the most popular makeup brands on the red carpet. Most recently, Oscar-nominated star of Killers of the Flower Moon, Lily Gladstone wore a full face of Chanel Beauty, as did Gabrielle Union, and Lupita Nyong’o wore a blend of Chanel products and wearable glitter for that show-stopping shimmer.
Dior Beauty
Dior Beauty is another social media sensation as of late—I mean, who doesn’t know about the iconic lip oil—and celebrities across all ages and walks of life were seen rocking the brand on the red carpet, from Ali Wong to Joey King, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Chastain, Rosamund Pike, Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman and more.
Pat McGrath Labs
Pat McGrath Labs all but broke the internet with her runway beauty look at the Maison Margiela couture show, bringing the brands name to the front of fans’ minds. Dame Pat McGrath’s products have long been staples across celebrity red carpet beauty looks, too, with icons like Miley Cyrus and Cardi B showing up to star-studded award shows in full faces of Pat McGrath glam.
Charlotte Tilbury
Whether you’re subscribed to all things Alix Earle or not, Charlotte Tilbury has become “that girl” when it comes to influencer-loved makeup brands, from their iconic Pillow Talk lip products to their tried-and-true contour wands. And, as this year’s awards circuit proved, Tilbury has the red-carpet seal of approval too, with celebrities like Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain, Doja Cat, Lana Del Ray and Kacey Musgraves rocking the British beauty brand on the carpet. At The Oscars this past Sunday, Emily Blunt paired her floating-shoulder gown with Charlotte lipstick.
L’Oréal Paris
A drugstore beauty staple, L’Oréal Paris is one of the most accessible and efficacious makeup brands on the market, and the brand has made waves on the award show circuit too. This year, beloved celebrities like Aubrey Plaza, Elle Fanning and Taraji P. Henson showing up to the industry’s biggest nights in L’Oréal products. At Sunday’s 2024 Oscars, Eva Longoria was spotted wearing L’Oréal Paris skin prep to emphasize her radiant complexion.
Lancôme
Lancôme is the epitome of elegant, luxurious beauty, from the packaging to the quality of product and, of course, the celebrity clientele that choose to sport the brand on the red carpet. Stars of Killers of the Flower Moon and The Holdovers, Lily Gladstone and Da’Vine Joy Randolph are just two of the celebs who showed up and showed out in Lancôme glam this year.
Red-Carpet Beauty Products: The Products Behind The Biggest Award-Show Beauty Looks
Now, I’m sure you’re wondering just what products were used from these popular red carpet beauty brands across our favorite celebrities. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Below, find some of the most popular products used to create celebrity glam looks across the red carpets.
Chanel’s lip products are pretty much the gold standard, especially when it comes to red carpet glam. At the 2024 SAG Awards, Jennifer Aniston rocked this lip duo in the shade Light Rose for a dusty, understated lip moment.
While it’s an investment for a lipstick, Chanel’s Le Rouge Satin Lipstick has been awarded GOAT status in the world of satin lipstick. The Bear star Ayo Edibiri wore the lipstick in shade 2.25 to the 2024 SAG Awards, rounding out her completely Chanel glam look.
At The 2024 Golden Globes, a whopping five celebrities wore the Chanel 31 Le Rouge Lipstick in shade Rouge Beige: Jennifer Aniston, Margot Robbie, Ali Wong, Keri Russel and Brie Larson.
This multifaceted, luminous face stick is seen across red carpet beauty looks, with both Ayo Edibiri and Issa Rae rocking the product in shades Transparent and Mermaid Glow, respectively, this year. Gabrielle Union wore the product to The Oscars this week in shade Mermaid Glow, too.
The “it girl” when it comes to lip oils, the best-selling Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil has made its presence known across the red carpet, seen on the pouts of icons like Reese Witherspoon. At the 2024 Oscars, Jennifer Lawrence worse the viral product in shade #001 Pink.
Rosamund Pike’s 2024 Golden Globes look was one for the books, and she was one of several celebs to opt for Dior complexion products for her red carpet serve. Dior’s Forever Skin Correct was largely to thank for the flawless, luminous complexion behind her black veil.
While Dior complexion and lip products do run the red carpet, their eye products are not to be overlooked, with superstars like Natalie Portman rocking the brand’s iconic Backstage Eye Palette at The Golden Globes this year.
No one does eyeshadow like Dame Pat McGrath, and Cardi B is one of the celebs consistently rocking a Pat McGrath eye look at award shows, opting for the cool tones in the Mothership I palette to go with her royal blue ensemble for the 2023 Grammys.
The 2024 Grammys were inarguably Miley Cyrus’ night. As an avid fan of Pat McGrath products and someone who wears the brand across shows and performances, one of the stars of her 2024 Grammys glam was her sculpted cheekbones courtesy of the brand’s Skin Fetish Divine Bronzer.
One of the newer additions to the Charlotte Tilbury lineup of lip products, the Hollywood Beauty Icon Lipstick made a red carpet appearance on the likes of Poor Things’ Emma Stone at the SAG Awards this year.
The Pillow Talk line is somewhat of Charlotte Tilbury’s claim-to-fame collection of products, and they can also be seen all over the red carpet. At the 2024 Emmy Awards this year, Jessica Chastain rocked a full face of Charlotte Tilbury products, including the brand’s Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes Mascara.
Arguably one of Tilbury’s most iconic and most viral makeup products, the tried-and-true lip pencil has become a red carpet staple, too, with Chastain rocking the most famous shade—Pillow Talk—as part of her Emmys glam this year.
The Infallible line is one of L’Oréal Paris’ most renowned collections, known for the products’ long wear and lasting pigment, making them a perfect red carpet beauty product. Taraji P. Henson’s monochromatic, berry look at this year’s Emmys was courtesy of the brand’s Infallible 24H Soft Matte Blush.
At The Oscars last week, Eva Longoria sported a face fully prepped with L’Oréal Paris skin products, including this ultra-hydrating, anti-aging serum that visibly plumps skin in as little as one week through its high-potency hyaluronic acid formula.
The 2024 Emmys saw a good few L’Oréal Paris looks, and Aubrey Plaza’s striking, cranberry-colored lip was courtesy of the brand’s Colour Riche Intense Volume Matte Lipstick. If you’re looking for a deep, berry color like Aubrey, opt for shade Worth It just like she did.
If you’re looking to nail a red carpet look from head to toe, Da’Vine Joy Randolph is the perfect inspiration, and her 2024 SAG Awards look was in part courtesy of Lancôme’s Hypnôse 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette, specifically the shade Bronze Absolu.
Lancôme’s complexion products are also top tier and beloved amongst celebrities, especially on the red carpet. At this year’s SAG Awards, Lily Gladstone sported a full-face of Lancôme including the brand’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation for that perfect, flawless finish.
