Emma Stone is always the epitome of beauty and grace gliding across the red carpet, and the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards were no exception. Stone’s iconic red strands were slicked back into a twist. The shine of her custom Louis Vuitton dress silver dress was perfectly complemented by the sleek shine of her updo.

Celebrity stylist Mara says she was “inspired to create a very fresh, youthful and modern twist.” What sets her look apart from other updos on the carpet is the shine. Roszak achieved this by using Nexxus Epic Shine Anti-Humidity Spray ($18) for multiple steps. She began the prep with RŌZ Milk Hair Serum ($52) and the shine spray, then used a round brush to create a bit of lift at the route.

“Then I used Velcro rollers at the crown and sides. I let the rollers sit for a few minutes before removing them. I sectioned off the front pieces around her face and the crown, gave the crown a gentle tease, and then pulled her hair back tight into a low ponytail,” says Roszak. “Then I pulled each section back from side to side and the crown into the ponytail. Then I wrapped the ponytail into a bun, allowing the bun to take on a natural sculptural shape.”

To lock the twist in place, Roszak sprayed Nexxus XXL Volume Medium Hold Hairspray ($18). She then brought out her secret weapon once again, the shine spray, for one last shot of shine.
