“Accentuating the power of one’s own natural beauty is the primary philosophy at Allenby Cosmetic Dermatology. “Here, we focus on an aesthetic partnership with our patients,” says Dr. Allenby. About My Practice

How do you make patients feel confident in their choices?

During consultations, I spend a majority of time educating the patient in a relaxed, nonpressured discussion about how we can achieve the desired attractiveness they are seeking. Along with my very supportive and friendly staff, we design an individualized plan that can achieve the restoration and maintenance of their desired look. Because this is truly a dynamic form of art, the plan is always being reevaluated to fit the changing needs of the patient and as new treatment modalities become available.

How do you determine a patient's ideal facial proportions?

To maximize each individual’s beauty potential, I use calipers to map the patient’s face based on the golden ratio in order to create a proportionate and elegant shape. The mapping also shows both myself and the patient other ways we can improve their proportions, as well as make the face look softer and less tired.

Why are less invasive procedures so popular?

The rise in these procedures continues because patients are consistently happy with their results. And although these less-invasive techniques can also be expensive, they most often offer less downtime and can be done in stages to spread out the cost.

In what ways do you share your expertise with others?

I have lectured worldwide on a variety of topics, as well as been selected by many aesthetic companies to consult on new treatments and devices. I am also honored to be repeatedly chosen by our local WPLG Channel 10 as their expert dermatologist.

Why did you choose to pursue dermatology?

Even though I found all aspects of medicine interesting, I was most fascinated by the largest organ of the body: the skin. The cosmetic aspect of dermatology has also always been extremely fulfilling, as my passion is to bring out the beauty in each individual.

What one surgical advancement are you most excited about right now?

Body-contouring and skin-tightening devices have eluded us in the past. Now, devices like Cellfina, CoolSculpting, Ultherapy and Profound are the new frontier. They can effectively treat cellulite, excess fat and lax skin in a minimally invasive way and can be incorporated with other treatments for maximum and complete results
What are you best known for?

For providing a beautiful, natural outcome. When only the patient
knows why they look so good, it’s a testament that the treatment is done correctly. Treatments should always enhance, and never distract, from your attractiveness
What are you doing differently today for facial rejuvenation?

One of the main differences is my injection method which changed several years ago, first in using a cannula for injections instead of a needle. This hugely reduces swelling,
bruising and discomfort, and allows the product placement to deliver better anatomical proportions. This method gives a more lifted and tightened appearance while staying far away from that “overdone” look
