Briogeo Color Me Brilliant Shampoo ($32)

If you have color-treated hair and are looking for a shampoo to maintain and extend your color between appointments, try this one from Briogeo. Free of harsh sulfates, it gently cleanses while employing its Color Protection Complex (a mix of turkey tail mushroom and bamboo leaf extract) to protect the hair from color fading. A blend of naturally derived oils, including flaxseed, apricot and sunflower, lend a hand in the softening and shine-enhancing departments as well.

This innovative two-in-one hot-air styler transforms hair from wet to dry (and straight!) without damaging the hair thanks to the brand’s unique AIRFUSION technology and smart, low-temperature plates.

Celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan says, “It straightens your hair from wet to dry. It has heated plates and a vent that blows hot air to smooth your hair as it dries. I know you’re thinking this sounds crazy, but they did years of testing and can actually say this causes no damage. Just a few passes on each section of hair, and your hair is dry, straight and smooth.

Once it’s dry, you have the option of turning on the Shine Shot, which heats up the plates further [to 365 degrees] and turns off the vent, so you can use the tool like a flat iron. This gets the hair super sleek and smooth, and leaves it so shiny and healthy. I’m so obsessed.”

Olaplex No.4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo ($30)

My first impression after trying this dry shampoo? It’s weightless. There was zero trace of it in my hair. This was intentional, as one of the biggest gripes from dry shampoo users is that it leaves behind a residue. Olaplex used ultra-fine micro starch sourced from brown rice in this formula to sop up oil without creating buildup.

The dry shampoo is also infused with the brand’s famous, multi-patented Bond Building Technology to add softness and strengthen damaged areas. The addition of antioxidant-rich rambutan seed extract (an ingredient we’ve been seeing a lot in skin care lately) provides a scalp-soothing benefit, too, while also neutralizing odor.

Odele Hair Oil ($12)

I’ve been a fan of Odele products since the brand launched in early 2020. Super concentrated yet somehow lightweight and nongreasy, this nourishing hair oil is a friend to all hair types experiencing split ends and frizz. It smooths and adds a beautiful sheen thanks to its trio of oils: camellia softens; baobab strengthens and argan moisturizes, adds shine and protects hair from breakage. It’s also great as a beard oil, so be prepared to share if you have a man in your life.

dae Violet Hour Purple Shampoo ($30)

If you have blonde or gray hair, there’s a pretty solid chance you have a purple shampoo in your shower. For me, it’s essential to banish brassiness in between salon appointments, and I’m loving this new one from dae, which is free of harsh sulfates, and the sweet, citrusy scent is a big bonus.

Infused with desert-derived botanicals such as quinoa protein, moringa leaf and cactus flower, it nourishes and strengthens hair as its violet pigments brighten, so it’s also working double-duty. You can use it highlighted brown hair colors, too.

The Body Shop Jamaican Black Castor Oil Conditioning Cleanser ($19)

Created in collaboration with the brand’s co-creators, a group of people with varied curls and coils from all over the globe—Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa, the UK and the U.S.—this co-wash gives textured hair the TLC it needs to thrive. The creamy formula employs Jamaican black castor oil, vegan keratin protein and Community Fair Trade shea butter from Ghana to repair damage, smooth frizz and restore moisture.

It’s foam-free, so don’t expect a sudsy lather, but it still works just as hard to remove buildup from the scalp. In a user trial with 101 respondents with 3A to 4C waves, curls and coils, 87 percent felt their hair wasn’t stripped of moisture after one use, 85 percent felt their hair was conditioned, and 84 percent reported their scalp felt clean.

Vegamour HYDR-8 Hydrate and Repair Shampoo ($38)

The star in this hydrating shampoo? The brand’s first-of-its-kind vegan keratin alternative called Karmatin, which utilizes micro-encapsulated vegan b-SILK protein to smooth and nourish the hair. It physically attaches to hair follicles and remains attached to them even after you rinse the shampoo away.

In a clinical study, results showed that after one use, hair was 15 times more hydrated, three times stronger and stayed hydrated for 72 hours (with a dramatic reduction in frizz, too).

Pacifica Coco Bond Damage Care Leave-in Mask ($18)

From the brand’s new Coco Bond collection comes this coconut-scented leave-in treatment that uses biomimetic technology to combat daily hair damage that leads to frizz, split ends and more. Apply the milky cream to freshly shampooed hair and then comb through and style as you normally would. I like to let it sit in my wet hair for a bit before blow-drying and heat-styling (as I would any leave-in product).

Fermented vegan peptides, plant-based film formers and a trio of plant oils—quinoa, lentil and apricot—team up to help smooth stressed-out strands and enhance shine. Coconut water adds hydration, too, and there’s no silicone in it either.
