Kate Bosworth’s skin may look flawless in photos, but the 37-year-old actress has lines and other issues like the rest of us. In a recent Instagram video, Bosworth demos one of her favorite products, which she’s “been saving for a very special time”: when she’s exhausted.
“I didn’t sleep very well. I was woken up by my animals at 4:30 in the morning to be fed, and I am very tired. I have always said to myself, I’m going to wait until I feel this way to do this video with you guys in order to introduce the product because it’s called Epicuren’s InstantLift Tightening Serum—I love this product, but I save it for moments when I’m feeling exactly the way I’m feeling.”
Bosworth says she loves Epicuren “because it’s clean beauty, but it’s incredibly effective”—she also calls out that this serum is vegan and cruelty-free—so she has a ton of the brand’s products in her cabinets. “They have a ton of different products for different needs, and I just think they’re brilliant.”
In the video (you can see it below), Bosworth gives a close-up look at her face after she’s washed it, and with no makeup on, to give an idea of what her skin looks like pre-serum. “I’m just gonna give it a couple of pumps into my hand—it’s like a clear jelly—and what I’m told is that it is oatmeal and seaweed that creates this tightening effect,” she says, pumping a few extra pumps into her hand because her skin “really needs it today and it just soaked right in.”
She also notes that the serum ($60) can be used as a spot treatment, “so if you’re finding that you just have some fine lines around your eyes, or those nose-to-mouth lines, you can just dab it there. I’m putting it on my entire face today because I need it. So now we wait one to two minutes, we let this dry, we let all the ingredients do their thing and then we see how nice and tight we get.”
After a couple minutes, Bosworth’s skin looks visibly tighter and refreshed. “What it feels like is that everything is lifted through here, like I almost can’t smile…that’s how much it’s lifting my face up,” she says, pointing to the area around her mouth. She also draws attention to the smoothing of the lines on her forehead and the area under her eyes. “It’s so amazing—like literally, it’s lifting my face.”
“So, what you’re supposed to do after this serum is add your moisturizer and then follow with your makeup. And you can imagine how tight and smooth it’ll be once you get your hydration on and your makeup. You’re going to be SO ready for that Zoom meeting.”
