Growing up in Southern California, Jaylen Barron knew from a young age she wanted to be an actress. A headshot session, a first job quickly booking a modeling gig with the girl’s clothing brand Justice, and a long list of roles later—Shameless and this summer’s Blindspotting, to name a few—the 24-year-old has quite the acting repertoire. Now, she’s adding entrepreneur to her resume with her own beauty creation, Boujaye Lashes, a line of vegan and cruelty-free lashes.
What was your main objective when creating your lash line?
My main objective was to give a comfortable, yet fabulous feel to falsies! I always noticed the band would be really thick and less natural—so I really wanted to embrace a lash that was suitable with and without makeup!
Any unexpected hurdles when launching?
It definitely had its ups and downs, I would have to say finding the right lash, keeping my momentum on social media, and maintaining an audience. Oftentimes I don’t realize how much work it takes to keep a trendy business going, but I’m working every day on progression!
Is there any other beauty-related business you’d like to get into?
I would love to get into creating a skin-care line. I love a natural face, so a moisturizer, scented body oil, and more vegan options are definitely something I would like to learn more about!
You’ve had some noteworthy roles. Is there anything beauty-related that really sticks out to you from them?
I would have to say playing the role of Trish has made me tap into my fierce side more. She has such beautiful makeup on and I’m always taking home lipgloss and tips on how I can do my own makeup. Being able to do my own makeup properly at home is such a big deal to me! I live for a bare face just as much as a natural look, so whatever tips and tricks I can use to make a look, I take it! Any favorite beauty products?
My current must-haves are Fenty Beauty, Confidence In A Bottle and La Mer! I mix so many products together until I get the perfect potion for my skin. I’m constantly updating my nighttime routine, so I’m always snagging different products from set. But my favorite product of all is the La Mer Face Oil, it keeps me looking dewy and fresh!
Any treatments you’d love to try?
I would love to try a green tea bath! I’ve read so many benefits about it, the way it improves skin and your mood. I can only imagine what it does for your skin and how good it is for your body. So if anybody knows where I can get one, let me know!
