The soul-singing songstress Alicia Keys has been dazzling audiences with her voice for over a decade and with the release of her new album Girl on Fire, it’s clear that she has not only come a long way with her talent, but her beauty and style too.

Through marriage and motherhood, Keys told the Los Angeles Times that she has finally found herself. “I think its mostly just stepping into your womanhood,” she says. Her look definitely reflects a new sense of sophistication.

In her early 20s, she sported cornrows, had a tomboy style and problem skin that she constantly camouflaged with tons of makeup. Today, her skin is clear, her makeup is understated and chic, and her newly short haircut has just the right touch of edge.

She shared the lopping off of her hair on Twitter when she went from long hair to a short bob last summer. Since then, she has gone even shorter and wavier—a style that looks classic yet hip, and really helps to showcase her strong cheekbones and chiseled jawline.

As for her skin, what was once covered in blemishes is now glowing and even. Regular exfoliation, especially as a woman ages, is key to keep breakouts at bay and to help deal with post-inflammatory scarring. “Glycolic acid face washes and creams help to keep the skin exfoliated,” says Coral Gables, FL, dermatologist Janelle Vega, MD.  Also for women with problem skin and a little more pigment like Keys, “Azelaic acid is very effective for both acne and melasma, so it is a good option for patients with darker skin or pigmentation issues,” she says.

What do you think? Do you like Alicia Key’s new look?
