Everyone looks at Miranda Kerr and thinks of an angel, but just wait until you meet her in person. The supermodel is a whole lot more than just her gorgeous skin and silky hair—she is hilariously funny, bright, well-spoken and she could even pass for a scientist with everything she knows about beauty and what goes into the making of a product.
“I feel like education is key,” says the CEO and founder (yes, Kerr is both) at a launch event for her latest and greatest product, Kora Organics Active Algae Lightweight Moisturizer ($56). “The more you can educate yourself about ingredients and read the labels, the better off you’ll be.”
It doesn’t take much to read the labels on Kerr’s products—every ingredient you see is identifiable, but that wasn’t her only goal: “We are certified organic, we incorporate crystals and the use of positive affirmations, and we also use aromatherapy and essential oils,” she adds.
While Kerr admits that everything about her brand screams clean beauty, she doesn’t want it to be “dumped” into that category. For her, Kora is much more than just clean. Included in the pillars for her brand: sustainability, self-love and wellness. “This took two years to develop, because when you have a certified organic product it does take that long. I get really impatient because I’m like ‘ugh, this is so good, I just want to get it out there’…But, patience is important—I’m an Aries.”
Kerr calls the new launch a “green juice for the skin,” but she also pins it as the lightweight, bouncy version of the Kora Organics Turmeric Glow Moisturizer ($60). “What’s interesting about the cream is that it’s super hydrating—we have a liposome technology, which encapsulates the Swiss glacier water, so it bursts directly onto your skin to cool and soothe—and it’s nourishing without the stickiness or tackiness. This technology is really what makes the product unique,” she tells us.
She also specifically likes to apply this product right when she wakes up, but she says it’s hydrating enough to be used at night, too. “I’m obsessed with using the active algae every morning and it sits beautifully underneath makeup,” she says. Powered by hero ingredient green algae, along with green tea, alpine rose and Swiss glacier water, this barrier-booster also purifies, soothes, calms, and minimizes the appearance of pores. “The goal for this product was to create a product that was lightweight and gave you the hydration that you needed without the excess shine.” After a week of using this, we can confidently say Kerr’s goal has been made.
