One of the most fascinating things to me about pop culture is how we can grow to associate certain celebrities—specifically pop singers—with certain aesthetics and color palettes. Think about it—Sabrina Carpenter, to me, is all things butter yellow, pastel pink and (of course) espresso while Charli XCX is undoubtedly brat green. Another celeb who I feel has totally established her own color palette is one of our favorite brits, Dua Lipa.
With her switch to cherry coke hair and her extensive wardrobe of dark-toned, metal and leather costumes for stage, Dua Lipa has pretty much claimed her stake in the world of gothic, edgey hues. Dua Lipa is also one of our favorite celebrity nail inspirations, as the Training Season singer is always experimenting with fun designs, like these slate-gray “aura” nails she debuted at one of her recent shows.

For quite some time now, “aura” has been a hot topic, with people getting professional aura readings done with colorful energy-detecting cameras, and the translucent orbs of color that result have quickly made their way into beauty trends, with many nail lovers opting for airbrushed nails that mimic that of one’s own radiating aura.
In a series of images posted to Dua’s Instagram this week, the star showed off her on-stage beauty and fashion looks for the Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium, and we could not take our eyes off her spooky nails. While spooky season is still months away, Lipa’s almond-shaped tips featured a black base and a gray and white “aura” circle in the middle creating an almost eerie style. While summer may be a time to experiment with bright, bold shades for some, if you prefer to keep it neutral and a little mysterious, Dua Lipa’s gray aura nails are a great way to go.
