Famous for pushing the boundaries and pioneering innovative makeup, Lady Gaga’s Haus Laboratories has created a sensation with its latest release, the Triclone Skin Tech Hydrating + Depuffing Concealer ($32). TikTok is filled with videos praising the complexion corrector for its exceptional coverage and blurring, all while being enriched with skin-care ingredients designed to depuff and rejuvenate the eyes. Lady Gaga’s longtime makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, tells us this is the superstar’s favorite formula to date, and it has been a game-changer for concealing her rosacea. Here, Tanno shares her expert tips for harnessing the full potential of the viral skin-care-concealer hybrid that is Haus Labs Concealer.
A Versatile Formula
Tanno emphasizes that the Triclone Skin Tech Concealer is a versatile product that caters to various makeup preferences. It also complements the Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation ($45), making it the perfect choice if you’re a fan of that formulation. Whether you prefer a barely-there no-makeup look, it offers buildable coverage that effortlessly blends into the skin, leaving a flawless finish.
The Triclone Skin Tech Concealer is suitable for all skin types and boasts a powerful combination of ingredients. It contains eight hyaluronic acids as well as fermented arnica to soothe redness and irritation. Additionally, biotech caffeine helps decongest and reduce under-eye puffiness.
The Two Shade Approach
When it comes to concealing imperfections, Tanno suggests using two shades for a personalized approach. “Personally, I prefer to correct my under-eyes and address deepness, given my fair skin tone with rosy undertones. So, my initial choice is ‘Fair Rosie 06.’ When it comes to correcting under-eyes or dealing with deepness, the general rule of thumb is to opt for either a peach or rosy tone—it often comes down to personal preference. In my case, I lean towards rosy shades because they tend to provide a slightly brighter effect compared to peach tones. I’ll apply it under my eyes, focusing on the areas with the deepest concerns. I find that a little goes a long way for achieving the desired effect.”
To brighten and conceal other areas of the face, Tanno recommends choosing a shade that matches your skin tone. “For my everyday look, I use ‘Fair’ or ‘Fair Neutral’ to conceal areas with redness and add brightness. I focus on lifting around the mouth, addressing acne scarring, and reducing redness on my chin. The inclusion of fermented arnica is a bonus, as it treats while concealing. The doe foot applicator is designed to effortlessly contour your face.”
Finger vs. Brush Application
Tanno says using your fingers or a brush ultimately boils down to personal preference. However, the Triclone Skin Tech Concealer Brush ($28) is intentionally designed to provide a skin-blurring finish. “Using your fingertips warms the product, resulting in a more subtle finish. On the other hand, the brush, which is shaped life a finger, provides precise control and blends seamlessly. The dense and soft brush mimics fingertip application, making it incredibly easy to use.”
To Set or Not to Set?
Tanno says setting the concealer with powder isn’t necessary and depends on your preferences. “It has a natural skin finish and doesn’t require setting for everyday wear. However, the Bio-Blurring Loose Setting Powder ($38) complements the concealer perfectly, maintaining your skin’s natural radiance without giving a heavy matte appearance.”
Perfect Pairing
When asked how to best layer the concealer with foundation, Tanno highlights the flexibility of the Triclone Skin Tech Concealer. “You can apply the concealer before, after, or even set it with foundation, depending on your preference. For a natural look, concealing first and using a light touch of foundation creates a seamless finish. This approach minimizes the need for heavy foundation, keeping your makeup light and radiant.”
