Sunscreen should be an essential part of everyone’s skin-care routine. If nothing else, you need to protect your skin from sun damage. While sun protection is serious business, we can also have fun with it, trying out new brands and formats to see which we like best. Spate recently shared data on the top trending sunscreen brands, aka those driving the biggest positive change in search volume. So, if you’re looking for inspiration for your summer sun-care stock, check out these brands that have captured people’s interest.

La Roche-Posay

This French brand has long been a dermatologist favorite. With the highest search volume on the list, the brand has seen an over 32 percent increase in interest. They have tons of offerings. I’m currently hooked on the newest sun launch, Mela B3 UV Daily Moisturier SPF 30 ($35). It’s born from 18 years of research, and you can tell. The texture is perfect, and my favorite part is that it helps reduce dark spots. Anthelios Mineral Tinted Sunscreen for Face SPF 50 ($38) is great for those with sensitive skin and leaves a subtle matte tint behind.

Beauty of Joseon

K-beauty brand Beauty of Joseon’s sun protection has been attracting attention with its beautiful minimalist packaging and unique list of ingredients. The brand boasts a 77 percent bump in search year over year. The Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF 50 ($15) is selling in droves, and the Matte Sun Stick, Mugwort & Camellia SPF 50 ($15) is also great if you prefer a stick formula.

Innisfree

Another K-beauty brand, Innisfree, has a super popular straightforward SPF option—Daily UV Defense Sunscreen ($18). The brand also recently launched a mineral version ($22) that’s just as good.

Eucerin

Eucerin is a classic brand, which makes it all the more interesting when it sees surges in search. They have options for a variety of skin types, including Clear Skin SPF 50 Face Sunscreen ($16), for those with acne-prone or oily skin and Age Defense SPF Face Sunscreen($15), designed with mature skin in mind.

Tocobo

K-beauty brands are dominating the list. While still a somewhat niche brand, Tocobo is surely on the rise. This past year, they saw a remarkable bump in searches by over 420 percent. The Cotton Soft Sun Stick SPF 50 ($20) is super soothing and smooth upon application. Vita Tone Up Sun Cream ($23) is a pink serum that works excellent under makeup.

Colorescience

Colorescience is a beauty-editor fave. Total Protection No-Show Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 ($45) won a 2024 NewBeauty Award. We also love the viral Sunforgettable Total Protection Color Balm SPF 50 ($39) for when we want to add a bit of color.

ISDIN

ISDIN has tons of sunscreen formulas. Eryforona Actinica Ultralight Emulsion ($70) is a best-seller not to be skipped. We’d be remiss not to mention the ISDINCEUTICS Mineral Brush ($60), which is great for on-the-go reapplication and ideal for protecting the scalp from burns.

COSRX

This brand may sound familiar, as they’re one of the driving forces of the snail mucin trend. Not all of their sunscreen formulas are available in the U.S. yet, but their Vitamin E Vitalizing Sunscreen SPF 50+ ($23) is a great place to start.

Alastin

Alastin has been on our radar for a while, but it seems some people are just discovering their sunscreen products as they’ve seen a 105 percent increase in search year over year. Another derm- and beauty-editor favorite, it’s hard to pick just one Alastin sunscreen. SilkSHIELD All Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 with TriHex Technology ($70) is a sun protection and anti-aging workhorse. HydraTint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 36 ($76) is known for the soft glow it promotes, in addition to its sun protection.

Babo Botanicals

With an 85 percent jump in searches, Babo Botanicals is most certainly on the map. They’re probably most well known for their offerings for little ones, with Sensitive Baby Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 ($19) being their best-seller, but their adult options are just as great. We like the Sheer Zinc Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 ($21). Plus, if we know it’s safe enough for our youngest sunscreen users, we feel pretty good putting it on our skin.

Summer Fridays

Eternally trendy brand Summer Fridays is sneaking onto the sun-care scene. Although they only have one SPF product out right now, they saw over 101 percent increase in search year over year. We can confirm ShadeDrops Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Mineral Milk Sunscreen ($36) is good enough to inspire that much interest on its own.

Thank You Farmer

Although Thank You Farmer didn’t start in sun care, it’s become a big part of their business. Sun Project Water Sun Cream ($19) has been getting some well-deserved attention. If you’re prone to redness, irritation or sunburn, we recommend trying Sun Project Skin-Relief Sun Cream ($20), packed with soothing ingredients.
