Monday night’s Met Costume Institute Gala has been keeping us occupied as we scour through images, discussing our favorite and not so favorite looks. In a long black gown and pulled back hair, supermodel Gisele Bündchen topped our list for her classy ensemble that was glamorous without bordering on overdone. Because we would love to look that elegant the next time we go black-tie, we had to find out just how she did it.
“Gisele wore the most amazing Givenchy dress and wanted to give herself a sexy innocence in contrast with the gown,” says celebrity makeup artist Rose-Marie Swift, responsible for Gisele’s red-carpet look. To enhance Gisele’s eyes, Swift applied black mascara and added a few individual lashes to the corners. On her eyelids, a drop of RMS Beauty Lip2cheek ($36) in Muse (a pale pink) helped create a beautiful yet natural eye. Swift actually used two different colored foundations on Giselle: the first, a lighter shade was used all over the face and then a darker color was applied to add contour and shape.
Rose-Marie intentionally shied away from bright colors on the cheeks and lips. In an effort to keep Gisele from looking too made up, RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in Promise, a warm salmon tone was used on both her lips and cheeks. Since Gisele loves for her skin to shine, Swift used RMS Beauty Living Luminizer ($38) on her complexion as well as her collarbone and shoulders. “It gives that youthful dewiness that is the new desired look throughout the fashion industry. This look is catching on fast,” Swift says.
Sounds easy enough to try. What did you think of Gisele’s look? Do you prefer understated or overstated makeup?
