I find there are two camps when it comes to eye cream: either you’ve never used it or you consider it a necessity. Thanks to genetics (puffy under-eyes) and aging (hello, dark circles and crow’s feet), I am solidly in the latter. If these sound like your pressing concerns too, allow me to enlighten you on an under-the-radar eye product from a celebrity-loved (and my go-to) skincare brand: Dermalogica’s Awaken Peptide Depuffing Eye Gel ($59).

Dermalogica is one of the most trusted skincare brands in the world, touted by dermatologists, estheticians and iconic celebrities such as Courteney Cox, Oprah, Tina Fey and Cindy Crawford. Their Awaken Peptide Depuffing Eye Gel helps revive tired eyes through a unique formula of effective ingredients. First up is caffeine. If you’ve ever wished you could transfer the benefits of a shot of espresso to your eyes, here’s your chance. Caffeine stimulates circulation and reduces inflammation. Simply put, it helps depuff under-eyes and brightens the purplish and blueish hue of dark circles. Next are peptides, used here to firm under-eye skin that may start to sag and wrinkle. Rosemary leaf extract is a soothing antioxidant that protects skin from free radical damage. Finally, exfoliating lactic acid gently smooths and brightens delicate under-eye skin.

10 Minute “Miracle”

The formula works fast to rejuvenate the whole eye area, according to the brand; a claim backed up by a study conducted by Dermalogica that concluded users looked more well-rested overall in just 10 minutes. Most importantly, shoppers agree.

“Instant gratification,” raved one reviewer. A shopper in their 40’s who said their crow’s feet are “so apparent” in the mornings shared Awake Eye Gel “helps immediately.” It “works really well gets rid of the puffiness within 5-10 minutes,” commented a customer over 60. “As the gel dries you can almost feel an instant firming effect,” read a separate review. Others noted continued improvement in the following days and weeks. “It’s brightening and my puffy eyes have gone down dramatically,” said a user after one month, while another said they noticed “reduced puffiness and and increased firmness” in two weeks. One “busy” customer shared it gave them “the look of a relaxed holiday.”

You may not be able outsmart genetics or aging, or even get a restful night’s sleep, but you can fake it with Dermalogica’s Awaken Peptide Depuffing Eye Gel.
