Like dry shampoo, lash and brow serums have become an essential part of my routine since I was first introduced to them. When I take a hiatus from using them (unintentionally), my lashes and brows revert to their short, sparse alter egos. The difference I see in the mirror is significant. Nu Skin Nu Colour Lash + Brow Serum gives those brow-grazing, beautiful lashes we all want without having to deal with applying falsies. (Admittedly, that’s not my strong suit.) Here’s what I love about this easy-to-use, results-driven formula.
The Benefits
One thing I love about this serum, in addition to the results I see, is that it combines lash and brow benefits into one product. One less product on a crowded vanity is a win. And speaking of results, Nu Skin’s clinical testing shows “longer, thicker, fuller, and shinier lashes and brows in as little as four weeks.” The clinical grading of visible results that was assessed at 12 weeks was impressive. Clinical graders observed a 53.2-percent improvement in each subject’s visible eyelash length.
The formula is also safety-ophthalmologist tested, free of prostaglandins and suitable for contact lens wearers. I wear contacts and have had sensitivities to some other lash serums, but I didn’t experience any irritation with this one. It’s oil-free and super nourishing and conditioning to both my lash and brow hair.
Key Ingredients
Peptides get all the attention in this formula, which includes biotinoyl tripeptide-1, myristoyl pentapeptide-17 and acetyl tetrapeptide-3. These powerhouse ingredients help the eyelashes look thicker and longer. Another way are peptides are included is in a blend with red clover, which helps prevent breakage when the lashes or brows are weak and brittle. Larch wood and green tea extracts also provide strengthening properties.
How to Use It
After washing your face, apply a thin layer to each eyebrow and along the root of your upper lash line. This particular applicator holds a good amount of serum compared to others I’ve tried. Therefore, you should only need one dip into the tube for both brows, and one dip for both lash lines.
However, because it can be used in both places, you should make sure your brows are squeaky-clean before you apply it to your lash line. If you still have makeup (brow pencil, gel, etc.) in your brows and you apply serum on top, two things may happen. 1.) The serum will not be able to penetrate as deeply. 2.) You could risk picking up some makeup on the applicator and then depositing that onto your lash line. This could cause irritation. To avoid this, make sure the serum is your last step before bed and first step in the morning. (Like when you brush your teeth, for example.) One tube of serum should last about three months if you use it twice a day.
