The Revolutionary Way: Fillers in the Upper lid and Brow
Why it’s groundbreaking: Surgery isn’t needed to make a big difference. Instead, volume is used to plump the area when the cause of the problem is volume loss. “Filling the area above the brow in the temple can be a nice way to subtly raise the brow and get some lift,” says New York oculofacial plastic surgeon Joseph Eviatar, MD.
Who it’s good for: Those that have small amounts of excess skin and don’t want to have surgery
How it’s done: Hyaluronic acid fillers, like Juvéderm, Restylane and Perlane, are injected into the area right above the upper lid and below the brow bone. “Adding volume in the area between the upper lid and the brow really helps to restore that youthful fullness, which gets lost with age,” says Santa Monica, CA, ophthalmic plastic surgeon Cynthia Boxrud, MD. But, if too much volume is reestablished the filler (or if fat was used) can swell up or cause lumping and long-lasting bruising—not to mention an unnatural look.
