Charlotte Tilbury’s New Beautiful Skin Concealer Is a Must for Dark Circles

Charlotte Tilbury is a makeup mastermind. I’ve been up close and personal with her on many occasions, whether it’s backstage at Fashion Week or at a product launch, and her passion is unparalleled, not to mention her energy. (I’ll have what she’s having!) When her team sent me the new Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer to try, it couldn’t ship fast enough. As a big fan of Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation (it’s great for dry skin), I was pumped to try this new addition, and it delivers. These are my honest thoughts.

My Skin Type:

Combination. I’m drier in the cold-weather months and oilier in the warm-weather ones thanks to the high humidity on the East Coast. My skin tone is light and I typically wear a light-medium shade of foundation.

The Benefits:

One thing Charlotte does really well (there are many!) is seamlessly infuse skin-care ingredients into her makeup. This concealer is formulated with 10-percent skin-care ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C and vegan collagen, and I can tell by the way it blends into my skin. It’s super creamy, hydrating and luminous, which gives a really pretty sheen around my eyes that makes them appear brighter. When the concealer was tested on 30 people over the course of 28 days, it proved to have long-lasting, 16-hour wear and be sweat-proof, humidity-proof and waterproof. And because of the skin-care ingredients, which give it double-duty functionality, in a test on 105 women over 28 days, 93 percent agreed the product visibly reduced the look of their dark circles over time (without the concealer on, of course).

The coverage is medium (I’m shade 4.5 Fair; there are 30 shades), but if you have darker circles (mine come and go), you can build another layer on top for full coverage and it blends well. I use a concealer brush, but I think a sponge would give a really nice airbrushed finish too. I also like that the doe-foot applicator is on the smaller side because I can pinpoint just the spot or blemish I want to cover and not use too much product that I don’t need. For me, that’s around my nose, where concealer easily settles if I use too much. And I know you’re not typically supposed to use radiant concealer to cover blemishes because it can actually draw light to them in some cases, but this one works quite well for me.

Key Ingredients:

Niacinamide, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, peptides, vegan collagen, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, camellia oil, mica-based pearls and glycerin

How to Use It:

Tilbury says there are three ways to use the concealer: conceal discoloration, pigmentation or blemishes; apply a shade that’s one shade lighter than your conceal shade to brighten under your eyes, hide dark circles and create an “eyelift effect”; and use a shade that’s darker than your conceal shade to contour your cheekbones, temples, jawline, and the sides of your nose.

It’s super pigmented, so a little goes a long way, and as I mentioned above, the small applicator makes it easy to target specific areas without wasting product, like around the nose and on a blemish. I really like that I’m not using more than I need and allowing my skin to still look like skin, just more even-toned.

The Bottom Line:

There have been a lot of concealer launches in the last few months, and this is one of my favorites. It helps to have a shade that works perfectly for me (I’m often between two colors), but the formula is spot-on and does what it says it will.
