I know the minimalistic makeup trend is still big, but so many of the concealers I’ve tried recently have not given me enough coverage. I’m in my mid-30s, a mom of two young babes and I have a lot of sleepless nights. I have dark circles, redness, puffiness and a sprinkling of melasma around my eyes, and I need something to make them disappear. The new tarte Creaseless Creamy Concealer does all that and applies like a dream. Here’s everything you need to know.

What I Like About This Concealer

If you’re looking for full coverage, this is the best concealer I’ve tried in a while. The creamy texture goes on so silky smooth—not heavy or cakey—and covers everything from dark circles and redness to pimples and hyperpigmentation. It’s incredibly easy to blend in, too, without too much product being lost to the brush. I haven’t tried applying it with a sponge yet, but I imagine that would give a really pretty, seamless finish too.

Nearly 60 percent of the ingredients in this formula are skin-care ingredients and it shows. The combination of maracuja passionfruit (sustainably sourced from an all-female cooperative in the Amazon) and caffeine energize the under-eyes, making you look more awake. As you can see in my before-and-after pictures below, I definitely look less puffy and more awake. And I did not use an eye cream or any other product with caffeine (or the like) beforehand. Other key ingredients include vitamin C–rich cloudberry, bakuchiol (a plant-based retinol alternative) and pore-minimizing niacinamide.

Did I mention it’s also waterproof and it doesn’t crease? In clinical testing, the concealer didn’t crease for up to 12 hours, while also providing 24-hour hydration. In consumer testing, 100 percent of participants agreed it blurred and smoothed their skin’s appearance and made them look less tired. They also said it didn’t look or feel dry on their skin, and it covered their dark circles and blemishes.

The Shades

There are 34 shades, which took the brand more than 18 months to create to suit a diverse spectrum of skin tones. Plus, the shades also feature six undertones now instead of the standard three: warm, neutral and cool. You’ll see across the shade range that some now have rosy, golden or peach undertones. This ensures a more natural-looking, undetectable finish on the skin.

I’m using shade 29N (Light-Medium Neutral).
