A recent study crowned the top 10 most searched for skin-care brands in the US. The study, conducted by beauty and wellness marketplace Fresha, used Google Keyword Planner data on average monthly searches for over 50 popular skin-care brands and then cross-referenced them with a series of keywords regarding products, such as “cream” and “serum,” to find out which ones Americans searched for most.

“In recent years, thanks to social media influence and increased awareness of skin health, skin care has evolved from a niche interest to a mainstream obsession, transcending age, gender and cultural boundaries,” says a spokesperson for Fresha. “This data reveals how much of a trend this has become in the US, with historical brands such as La Roche-Posay, Cetaphil and Olay, as well as newer brands like Byoma and The Ordinary appearing in the top 10.”

The most searched for skin-care brands

CeraVe

CeraVe led the pack in a landslide, with more than double the searches of the brand in second place. The top search in the country was for “CeraVe face wash,” with the second being “CeraVe moisturizing cream.” They have a variety of face washes and moisturizers for different skin types, but the most popular tend to be CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser ($18) and the classic CeraVe Moisturizing Cream ($19.50).

La Roche-Posay

The French pharmacy brand La Roche-Posay came in second and locked in the third most searched term in the country with “La Roche-Posay moisturizer.” Meanwhile, “La Roche-Posay cleanser” was the fifth most searched keyword. The La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer ($24) and the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser ($18) are fan favorites.

Cetaphil

Cetaphil clinches third place, with its cleanser being the most Googled product of its lineup. The Cetaphil Face Wash ($17) is a true bang for your buck, as it comes in a large pump bottle that never seems to end.

Drunk Elephant

Drunk Elephant has long been a popular brand, but its recent surge in popularity, especially with teens, has skyrocketed its clout. The brand came in fourth place, and its most searched keyword, “Drunk Elephant moisturizer,” came in tenth. Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream ($69) is their bestseller. Their mini kits, like The Littles ($76), are a great way to try a handful of their most well-loved products.

The Ordinary

Beloved for its straightforward formulas, minimalist designs and affordable prices, we’re not surprised The Ordinary made the list. Their bestsellers are Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 ($18) and Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ($11), but we recommend you pick a product based on your skin concerns.

Neutrogena

Neutrogena stands the test of time with cult classic products as well as new innovations, securing its spot in sixth place. We’ve long been obsessed with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Cream ($16), and Neutrogena Makeup Remover Ultra-Soft Cleansing Wipes ($14) are beyond iconic.

Byoma

Fairly new British skin-care brand Byoma, launched in 2022, has experienced a lot of love in its short lifetime so far. The fun colors and reasonable prices are appealing to many young consumers. Their BYOMA Moisturizing Gel Cream ($14) and BYOMA Balancing Face Mist ($14) are top sellers.

La Mer

By far the most luxe brand on the list, La Mer‘s price range is head and shoulders above the rest of the top 10. However, the brand’s quality and reputation ensure it’s still top of mind for consumers. If you’re familiar with La Mer, it’s likely because of their iconic Moisturizing Soft Cream ($380).

OLAY

OLAY is a classic brand that’s evolved with its consumers, earning its spot in the top 10. With innovative new products like OLAY Cleansing Melts ($10) and exciting celebrity partnerships, we’re not surprised that Google is aglow with OLAY searches.

Tatcha

This Japanese beauty brand claims the final spot in the top 10. While their products are a bit pricer than most brands on the list, their incredible quality and beautiful packaging make them well worth the price tag. If you haven’t tried their gorgeous Dewy Skin Cream ($72), it’s an excellent place to start.
