It seems every day, there’s a new beauty trend, from cool-toned makeup to Bratz doll makeup. While it’s all good and fun to have a revolving door of trends, it’s not sustainable, leaving many to burn bright and die fast, quickly fading from our memory. That’s the case with a handful of makeup trends that had thousands of searches one week and zero the next. Fresha recently analyzed global average monthly searches of over 100 makeup and beauty trends to reveal the most and least popular. You’ll certainly recognize some of these mercurial trends, but, likely, you haven’t thought about them in months.
Fresha’s research found that there was a five-way tie for least popular beauty trend, all of which racked up zero monthly searches on Google, even though they were once all the rage. Post-perfectionism, which embraces imperfections and authenticity, seems to be out, but we predict the ethos is still alive and well.
While some blush trends continue to boom, the terms C-sculpt blush and C-sculpting aren’t along for the ride, both landing a spot in the top five least popular trend searches. Undertone eyeshadow is also not receiving any love, although, at one point, people were very invested in selecting eyeshadow shades based on their natural undertones.
What is popular? The classics like red lips, smokey eyes and glass skin. There are also some more timely trends with impressive staying power, like Barbie makeup and goth girl makeup, that are maintaining high searches.
