Whether you live in New York City or not, this summer has been sweltering, and has been putting all of my makeup products to the maximum test. While I prefer to keep my face makeup lightweight year round, the unbearable temps this summer have made weightless, durable formulas essential. But, in recent weeks I’ve noticed myself opting to go makeup-free even if I prefer a light wash of coverage since my face makeup products just couldn’t keep up with the sweaty, oily conditions of New York City in the summer.
Enter the Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir ($32). The latest addition to the lineup of Kylie Cosmetics products, this lightweight, skin-blurring skin tint launched just yesterday, but I had the pleasure of testing the product out for the last week following the brand’s NYC launch event. While the fact that Kylie herself was wearing the product at the 2024 MET Gala was enough to sell me on the product alone, I put the Skin Tint Blurring Elixir to the test, exposing it to the elements (even the dreaded AC-less subway car), and the results were impressive.

At the launch event for the new Kylie Cosmetics skin tint, I got to learn all about the product’s formulation and development from brand experts, and was most interested to learn that the product is made to be mixed—whether it be with your other base products or, more specifically, with other skin tint shades. I got shade 2C when shade matched, but was sent shades 2C, 2W, 2.5N, 3W and 3WN to try, and found my perfect combo to be a blend of 2C and 3W, as it gave me a little extra bronze to mask the fact that I’ve barely seen the sun in the last several months. With 24 shades across five shade categories, there is bound to be the perfect elixir (pun intended) for everyone.
Kylie’s Skin Tint Blurring Elixir is packed with hyaluronic acid as part of its noncomedogenic formula, so you can rest assured that the product will be kind to your skin and will refrain from irritating or causing breakouts. The product itself has a natural finish, but I prefer a glowier look. I was pleased to find that, upon application, the product seamlessly covered my hyperpigmentation and dark spots, but let my glowy base products shine through, creating a look that was both airbrushed yet dewy.
How to Apply Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir
I had the best luck when mixing my shades on the back of my hand and applying generously with the brand’s Skin Tint Brush ($28). With one coat, the product provides a nice was of light coverage, but it is definitely buildable, so you can layer for more intense coverage. The day I took the pictures shown above, I was unfortunate enough to be stuck on a non-air conditioned subway car not once, but twice (IYKYK), and when I came home at the end of the day, I was shocked at how well the product had held up.
In the images above, I’m wearing only the skin tint on my face (no concealer), but I have also worn it with bronzer, contour and blush and it seamlessly blends with other products, making it perfect for a solo, no-makeup makeup look or a full glam moment.
