While the Met Gala may be known for being over-the-top, Usher’s groomer kept it tried and true for the star’s skin prep last night.
Relying on four CeraVe products—including an upcoming soon-to-be-available launch—celebrity makeup artist and groomer Lola Okanlawon said “enhancement” of the skin was vital, which is why she went with the expert-recommended ceramide-fueled line. “It was key for me to enhance Usher’s skin for the Met Gala. CeraVe’s product lineup helped achieve a healthy and hydrated skin barrier to ensure his radiant skin was a focal point of his look tonight.”
Making the cut: CeraVe Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser ($20), which Okanlawon “gently massaged into Usher’s skin using lukewarm water and circular motions,” followed by the brand’s new eye cream, available soon on Amazon. “This brand-new formula helps depuff and brighten the under-eye area and works seamlessly with any under eye concealer, making it an excellent addition to any routine, so be on the lookout for it.”
For the moisturizer step—which Okanlawon considers “the most important” in any red carpet skin-care prep—she used CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Gel ($20). “It has a weightless feel and glides onto the skin easily without tugging or pulling, while layering well under makeup and sunscreen. I used a pea-sized amount and applied it evenly onto his face and neck for all-day hydration from the red carpet to the event and beyond!”
Completing the prep, Okanlawon applied CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion ($15) “by massaging a generous amount onto exposed areas of skin on his body,” including those prone to dryness like his hands. “This helped seal in moisture and keep his skin hydrated throughout the long event. I also applied CeraVe Healing Ointment ($15) as a lip balm and finishing touch.”
