In August, NewBeauty readers wanted one thing: luxury makeup. Inspired by the satin lipstick Lily Collins wore to the Emily in Paris premiere, Blake Lively‘s designer lip and cheek balm and Simone Biles‘s go-to concealer, our readers made some noteworthy beauty investments last month. The Paris Olympics may be over, but French beauty is still front of mind. Our readers jumped at two French-made skin-care products conveniently available on Amazon: a “baby Botox-inspired” face serum and the dry oil every French woman uses on her hair, face and body. Keep scrolling for the 10 best-selling beauty products of the month.
Merit Beauty Signature Lip ($26)
The aforementioned lipstick Collins wore on the red carpet for Emily in Paris‘ fourth season was none other than Merit Beauty’s Signature Lip Satin Lightweight Lipstick (specifically, in shade “Baby”). The lipstick is hailed as a “must-try” by makeup artists for its soothing and moisturizing qualities. These qualities are thanks to sunflower seed oil, raspberry oil and papaya extract.
Merit Beauty Great Skin Priming Moisturizer ($38)
Merit launched its second-ever skin care product in late August—the Great Skin Priming Moisturizer. Celebrity esthetician Biba de Sousa says it’s “uniquely well-suited to provide both immediate and long-term moisture to the skin” thanks to its “innovative” Great Skin Complex that’s “specially developed for time-release hydration.” She also calls it a “great primer” to wear under makeup.
FILORGA Time-Filler Shot 5-XP ($76)
French skin care brand Filorga debuted the Time-Filler Shot 5-XP, a targeted “baby Botox-inspired” serum, in the spring, but it sold out in 72 hours. Luckily, it’s back, both on the brand’s site and on Amazon. Shoppers claim it’s “better than advertised” for smoothing and softening wrinkles.
HOURGLASS Vanish Airbrush Concealer ($36)
Dallas-based makeup artist Alayza Casey created multiple gold medal-worthy looks for Simone Biles at the 2024 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships. To give Biles a “matte glam” look, she relied on the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer, a weightless, full-coverage liquid concealer that’s long-lasting and crease-proof.
DIOR Backstage Rosy Glow Blush ($40)
Few blushes are as iconic as DIOR’s Rosy Glow Blush, particularly in shade Rosewood, a soft peachy rose. The powder blush blends seamlessly and emits a natural-looking flush for all-day radiance.
Chanel LE VERNIS Longwear Nail Color in Rouge Noir ($32)
Need proof NewBeauty readers were already embracing the autumn vibes in August? Look no further than the popularity of Chanel’s Le Vernis nail polish in the legendary Rouge Noir shade. The cherry mocha-esque shade has us reaching for our cozy knits.
Chanel No. 1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm ($48)
Speaking of Chanel, while on the press tour for It Ends With Us, Blake Lively relied solely on the designer brand’s skin care and makeup to create a “naturally glowy” look. Included was the No. 1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm in the shade Wakeup Pink on the apples of her cheeks and lips.
Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment ($122)
This award-winning lactic acid treatment from Sunday Riley smooths and plumps skin, reduces the look of lines and wrinkles and enhances radiance. These benefits are all thanks to a seriously powerful combination of lactic acid, glycolic acid, malic acid, salicylic acid and peptides.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner ($25)
Beloved by celebrities like Lainey Wilson, Lana Del Rey and Christie Brinkley, this long-lasting and smudge-proof lip liner naturally reshapes and enhances lips with a hydrating and velvety finish that’s perfect for everyday wear.
NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil ($23)
When you think of French beauty products, this gold bottle should come to mind. A multi-use dry oil (read: no oily residue) that’s meant for the face, body, hair and cuticles, it’s made with a blend of seven botanical oils, including hazelnut, Argan, camellia, macadamia, sweet almond and more, plus vitamin E.
