The 2024 MTV VMAs are off to a hot start! And this year’s rising superstar, Chappell Roan definitely turned up the heat. She absolutely stunned in a Joan of Arc-inspired look that had us all falling into gothic fantasyland. And Chappell’s sultry beauty look absolutely turned heads. Created by her go-to makeup artist, Andrew Dahling, her VMAs makeup look used MAC products to embody a sultry goddess. And she seems capable of slaying anyone in her way.
“We tapped into Chappell’s goddess energy to create her look for tonight, which was centered around a fairytale persona,” Dahling explains. “The vibe being a medieval royal fantasy, leveraging deep color and tones!”
We absolutely couldn’t take our eyes off of her! And a big part of that was the absolutely gorgeous lip that tied Chappell’s look together. And it turns out, it took four MAC products to get the exact look Dahling and Chappell Roan were after. Dahling achieved the look by combining sweeter rose shades with deeper burgundies, including a touch of MAC’s lip liner in Nightmoth in the center of the lip for added depth.
The result is a “red wine supernova” that gives off old world, medieval vibes that sets Chappell Roan’s VMAs look apart.
