Sequins, prints, metallics and more, oh my! When it came to The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri’s Emmy manicure tonight, celebrity nail artist Eri Ishizu made sure it was a moment. Nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Edebiri walked the red carpet in a colorful Bottega gown and sky-high slit—sporting a radiant metallic mani to boot.
Ishizu’s custom nail design featured a blend of shades from the new OPI Metallic Mega Mix Collection, expertly mixing and applying polish. The final creation: A radiant metallic underlay that beautifully highlighted Edebiri’s striking black nail look.
“I drew inspiration from Ayo’s stunning Bottega sequined dress and knew that combining metallic with sheer black would achieve the exact effect we envisioned,” Ishizu shares. “The nails turned out to be the perfect accessory, seamlessly blending fashion with a standout nail moment.”
As Ishizu shares, to start, she buffed the nails smooth and applied OPI GelColor Super Base Base Coat to each nail. After each nail was painted, they were placed under OPI’s Star Light Gel Lamp, followed by OPI Natural Nail Base Coat ($12).
To create the custom color, Isizu then mixed OPI GelColor Chrome Clawz and OPI GelColor SaTURN Me On with a tiny bit of OPI GelColor Super Base Base Coat. She then applied a very thin coat to each nail.
Next up was a mix of OPI GelColor Black Onyx with OPI GelColor Super Base Base Coat. As Ishizu explains, the combo makes “a jelly-like texture.”
“Mixing these products will make the polish opaque for the metallic to show through underneath,” Ishizu says. “Apply two coats of this black mixture to each nail.”
The last step: One coat of OPI GelColor Super Gloss No Wipe Top Coat.
