The nail looks were on point (see what I did there?) at tonight’s 76th annual Emmy Awards. From dainty French manicures to bold and bedazzled, each A-lister went for a different look to complement their red-carpet fashion. One design we can’t get enough of is Kristen Wiig’s shimmery stiletto nails, which she paired with her strapless, metallic Oscar de la Renta gown. Her nail art is fairly easy to replicate at home, and here, her manicurist shares how to get the look.
“These nails shimmer in the light and have a Cinderella glass slipper feel,” says celebrity manicurist Vanessa Sanchez McCullough. “Kristen was really excited about getting some length back on her nails, so we decided on a stiletto-shaped nail.” Wiig is nominated for three Emmys tonight. Two are for her role in Palm Royale, both for Outstanding Lead Actress and as an executive producer of the show. The third category she’s nominated in is Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series for her guest host role on SNL this year.
How to Get the “Cinderella Glass Slipper” Nail Look
McCullough used Aprés Gel-X Natural Stiletto Short Tips to give Wiig the perfect length. “I wanted to give Kristen the perfect nail to complement her gorgeous dress, so I decided to customize the already beautiful shade of Forgotten Film from Aprés Gel Couleur,” she says. “I diluted the color a bit with Aprés Base Gelcoat to make it semi sheer and added a very fine, transparent, holographic glitter.” McCullough applied two coats of this customized shade and then topped it with the Aprés Non-Wipe Glossy Top Gelcoat. “To add an extra touch of bling, I chromed the nail to create a super shiny and sparkling finish, which I topped again with Top Gelcoat.”
