Jenna Ortega is no stranger to dark acting gigs, from her upcoming role in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in Wednesday, her countless jump scares in Scream VI and beyond. Her movie roles bear similarities to her signature makeup look: a modern goth vibe with a touch of old Hollywood glamour. While on a press tour for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the 21-year-old actress has been serving up this vibe over and over again, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis. Our favorite: a “smoldering smoky eye,” as Inglessis described them, teamed with a subtle flush of blush— and a standout berry lip we just had to get the details on.
The secret behind her perfect-for-fall lip is Le Rouge Français Le Nude Wantura ($62), a refillable lipstick that skips synthetic coloring in favor of plant-based pigments. According to the brand, the pigments “adapt to the natural tone and pH level of your lips.” Not only is it packed with organic ingredients, but the materials used are 100 percent recyclable, earning it a coveted EcoCert Organic Certification. As for wear, the formula boasts a silky-smooth texture, thanks to nourishing shea butter, hydrating jojoba, sunflower, apricot, and castor oil, and softening waxes.
Jenna Ortega’s Goth Girl Glam
Ortega’s lip closely resembles a look she wore just a week earlier, featuring what looks like the same Le Rouge Français lip color paired with bold blue winged eyeliner for an equally statement-making effect. At the time of writing, Le Rouge Français is the only brand her makeup artist has used to add statement color to her lips. The rest of her looks have either featured a sheer glossy lip or a neutral lippie. Take the photo on the right, below, for example. Inglessis shares that she used “the same brown pencil for the lips and for the eyes (blended with a black one)” to create a ’90s-inspired lip-lined pout.
Which do you prefer: a berry lip, a neutral lip, or a healthy mix of both? Maybe a few more examples, ahead, will help you decide.
